Fauvely
Fauvely (faux-vlee) is the dreamy indie-folk project of songwriter Sophie Brochu.
Named after the Fauvist art movement—which rejected realism in favor of bold colors and wild, dramatic contrasts—Fauvely’s music moves effortlessly between quiet intimacy and moody soundscapes. Brochu crafts deeply personal songs, pairing vulnerability and self-effacing honesty with lush, reverb-soaked guitars and atmospheric swells.
A Georgia native, Brochu cut her teeth in Chicago’s rich music scene, playing in shoegaze outfits Videotape and Astrobrite. Encouraged by bandmate Scott Cortez to record her own bedroom demos, she launched Fauvely in 2016, then quickly established a powerful live presence across iconic Midwestern stages, including The Empty Bottle, Schubas, Lincoln Hall, Sleeping Village, and Cactus Club, as well as the annual Tomorrow Never Knows (TNK) Festival and Summer Camp Music Festival.
Since returning to her hometown of Savannah in 2020, Brochu has continued to evolve her sound while balancing motherhood, playing regional landmarks like Victory North, Savannah Stopover, and Dog Days Music Festival. Whether performing with a full band or stripping down to an intimate solo set, Fauvely remains a vessel for quiet, arresting introspection.
